A competition has been announced for assistants for the prevention of violence and vandalism, training until the end of September

The competition for assistants for the prevention of violence and vandalism in schools was opened yesterday, and their training will take place in September, said Radoje Novović from the Institute of Education in Boja jutra.

He states that the process will be completed by the end of the calendar year, as it is necessary to create legal prerequisites. The program should begin to be implemented next calendar year.

The assistants will pay for the training themselves, and Novović is not aware of its price.

"The assistant's role is to record, prevent, inform. His biggest role will be in the yard and corridors, because research has shown that there is the most violence".

The program, Novović said, was already done in 2019, during the mandate of Damir Šehović.

"In schools over 300 students have one pedagogue or psychologist, in schools over 700 there is both a pedagogue and a psychologist, and over 1.400 can choose a third person as well. There is enough staff at the institution," said Novović.

According to the plan, about 60 schools will have the right to hire an assistant, and the exact number will be known when the schools submit data on the number of students to the Ministry.
