32 years have passed since the declaration of Montenegro as an ecological state, and on that occasion a two-day conference on the main problems in this sphere is being held in Plav and Gusinje.
The hosts appeal to save Lake Plav from disappearing.
Lake Plav must be protected from disappearing and that is the problem of the whole of Montenegro, said the president of the municipality of Plav Nihad Canović, emphasizing that they are powerless to do anything on their own.
However, this is not the only problem, it was said at the conference in Plav and Gusinje on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the declaration of Montenegro as an ecological state.
"That you will propose professional solutions, but also make a public appeal to the institutions that the pearl of nature, Plavsko jezero, must find a way to solve the problem, that it must be preserved from disappearing. Waste management, we are aware that in the north of Montenegro, it is a black point of ecology. Wastewater must be one of the priorities, because it pollutes our meadows, pollutes our rivers, pollutes our lakes," said Canović.
The Minister of Ecology, Ana Novaković Đurović, pointed out that Montenegro is facing similar problems as the rest of the world, namely climate change, waste management and protected areas.
"And we are somewhere at the beginning of solving these problems," said Novaković Đurović.
Director of the Environmental Protection Agency, Milan Gazdić, who said yesterday that Kotor is losing its status on the UNESCO World Heritage list and then said that it was a reckless statement, today praised the results of the Agency, in cooperation with other institutions.
"In the previous year, to deal with the illegal exploitation of gravel from Morača, we managed to stop poaching on Lake Skadar together, together for the first time in the history of Montenegro, we came to the first red lists of protected species, for the first time we defined precise boundaries through joint work and zones of all national parks in Montenegro, we have implemented a large project to rehabilitate ecological black spots," said Gazdić.
Environmental activist Vuk Vujisić pointed out that we can only solve environmental problems together.
"We have shown that when we unite together, when activists, citizens, institutions, media, that victories are possible, I think that these are the right principles on which further work should be continued, but of course with the help of science we try to contribute to faster development, recovery and environmental protection," stated Vujisić.
The conference is attended by 200 participants and 120 scientific papers will be presented during the two days.
