Starting next week, the "Stop Inflation" sign will again be seen on some products in stores across Montenegro because, after a three-month break, a new promotion is starting.

"I hope that starting on Monday or at the beginning of next week, there will already be the first list of products, and then we will probably try to make an extension, that is, extend that number," said Prime Minister Dritan Abazović.

What exactly will be in the anti-inflationary basket is not yet known.

Abazović has more specific information.

"They are even ready to reduce some margins to zero. We will make sure that at least in a number of foodstuffs, citizens get a discount. That is the idea, you know that we cannot excessively influence what is a private business".

The company Merkator, which manages the "Idea" and "Franca" stores, confirmed to Television News that they are in the mood to participate in this action again, but they don't want to talk about the details yet either.

"Guided by the experience and results of the March action, at this moment, together with the proponents and participants of the action, we are working on the preparation of the contents of the anti-inflationary basket, and we expect that the process will be completed as soon as possible. We believe that our contribution to the program will be significant this time as well, both because of the breadth of the retail network, and our continued commitment to provide our consumers with good service, a high-quality and wide range of products and affordable prices," announced Mercator.

Before the Montenegrin one, similar actions were launched in the last month by the governments of Croatia, Serbia and North Macedonia.

Macedonia has decided that starting today, in addition to bakery, dairy and meat products, it will lower the margins on fruit, vegetables, but also non-alcoholic drinks and beer, so their prices should drop by up to 30 percent.

The citizens of Podgorica also have suggestions as to which prices should be reduced first and how much the reduction would mean to them.

During the first round of the campaign "Stop Inflation", which lasted from the end of March to July, the prices of 25 products were reduced in retail chains in Montenegro by limiting the trade margin to five percent.
