On the International Day against Violence against Women, Montenegro records devastating statistics.
In more than 30 cases for the criminal offense of rape established in the previous three years, only one was finally concluded.
This is shown by the data provided to Television Vijesti from the higher courts in Podgorica and Bijelo Polje.
The Center for Women's Rights assesses that this shows that justice is slow to achieve, and they also note that the sentences for these crimes are far below the legal maximum.
