The construction of a new footpath on the Ljubović hill in Podgorica should start next year. The project is worth 650 thousand euros and includes additional facilities, such as on the Gorica hill.
Almost two and a half years ago, citizens launched an initiative to build a new footpath on Ljubović hill...
"Until now, Ljubović was, so to speak, exclusive to Zabjel, because the access to the hill was from that side, now, with the construction of the promenade, the citizens of Stara Varoš and the part of the city via Morača will be able to easily and simply access and climb to the top of Ljubović and to see the whole city and enjoy nature", says the editor of the show "Oči Podgorica" Predrag Tomović.
Citizens say that we should think more about pedestrians and health:
"Pedestrian path, as long as there are no cars, decent, that it does not disturb the environment, that it fits into the environment. Podgorica is a city with too many cars".
"I think it's a great success, because of people, because of pensioners, because of people who have small children, that they have a place where they can walk".
Officials say that they are finally bringing this project to an end and that work will begin next year.
"The final phase of the revision of the project is underway and we hope that at the end of next week, possibly in ten days, we will be able to start preparing for the public invitation for the Ljubović promenade," says Dragan Senić, director of the Agency for Construction and Development of Podgorica.
Asked if it was a public call for the selection of contractors, he answered: "That's right, the budget provides 150 thousand, and in the next year 500 thousand."
"Additional facilities, a gym or an open-air training ground, already exist up at the top, it would be very desirable, and some catering facility on part of the route would increase the number of visitors," assesses Tomović.
The promenade on Ljubović will have two legs, with a total length of 650 meters.
