Amendments to the law on pension and disability insurance (PIO), which, among other things, foresee an increase in the minimum pension to 450 euros, will be supported by the majority of deputies, despite numerous objections from the opposition and part of the ruling parties.
As could be heard during today's discussion, the deputies of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) will not vote for the changes because they believe that the increase in pensions is a political move by the Europe Now Movement (PES), and not the result of a real economic analysis.
It is not excluded that the proposed increase in pensions will be before the Constitutional Court.
Deputies will vote on the proposed law later, because in the meantime they have started a new, ninth session.
The majority of deputies support the Government's changes to the PIO law, it is clear after several hours of discussion in the Assembly.
The law provides that men and women can retire at the age of 65 and at least 15 years of service, as well as that the minimum pension as of January 1 will be 450 euros.
Deputies also discussed amendments to the law on excise duties, which provides for the introduction of excise duties on non-carbonated water with added sugar and non-alcoholic beer.
Also on the agenda were changes to the Law on Financing of Local Self-Governments, which provide for aid of 10 million to municipalities in the north of Montenegro, at the expense of those in the central and southern parts of the country.
