While waiting for the preliminary data of the population census, which Monstat announced for January 25, the first figures obtained by Television News show a decline in most municipalities in the north of the country, compared to the statistics of 12 years ago.
According to data from the municipal census commissions, the number of inhabitants decreased the most in Plužine, Šavnik, Mojkovac, Pljevlja, Žabljak.
In the northernmost Montenegrin municipality, 25.500 inhabitants were registered, which is over five thousand, or 17 percent less than in 2011.
Even in the largest municipality in the north, Bijelo Polje, there are about 1700 fewer inhabitants, or 3,7 percent.
According to the previous census, almost 34 thousand citizens lived in Berane, and now there are about 27 thousand of them.
This is a drop of 21 percent compared to the previous census, but primarily due to the fact that Petnjica became an independent municipality in 2013, and according to the data provided to TV Vijesta, over 8200 inhabitants were registered in it and growth was recorded.
In addition to Petnjica, the number of inhabitants also increased in Gusinje, where more than 5000 citizens were registered, and in Rožaje, where more than 28 were registered.
In Mojkovac, the number of inhabitants has decreased by over a thousand and a half, and now there are 7.028, so almost 18 and a half percent less.
Even the first data that Television News received from the leaders of the three Poddurmitor municipalities are not optimistic. The number of inhabitants has decreased significantly in 12 years, especially in Plužine and Šavnik, and there are fewer in Žabljak as well.
In Plužine, there are almost 1000 fewer, or 29 percent, so now there are 2300 registered.
In the 2011 census, the municipality of Šavnik had over 2000 inhabitants, and now it is 23 percent less.
Žabljak recorded a drop of 13 percent, from almost 3 to slightly more than 600.
TV Vijesti has so far failed to obtain preliminary data on the number of censuses in Kolašin, Andrijevica and Plava.
Diaspora is included in the obtained results. Families in the north listed their adult members who live and work abroad, and they will be shown in the results through the item foreigners.
