Mojkovac firefighters had their hands full today, especially in Stup, in the Prošćen mountains, where low vegetation, tree stumps and pine forest burned on more than ten hectares... Half of it belongs to the Durmitor National Park.
"Our team has been there for three days, the fire is very difficult to put out, because it is located in an inaccessible part of the canyon of the Tara River, it is part of the Durmitor National Park. We were looking for a plane, the plane came, the wind was strong and it was not nothing could be done about it. Three houses were threatened, and the property is on fire, it's a human factor, someone cleaned their property, set it on fire, it spread," said the head of the Mojkovac Protection and Rescue Service, Marinko Medojević.
The fire in Bjelogrivac on Bjelasica was extinguished this morning after two days. They are also located in Lepenac, Slatina and other places.
"We don't have enough manpower, we don't have enough firefighters," Medojević said.
In difficult conditions, on inaccessible terrain and with a strong wind, firefighters from Bjelopolje also extinguished the fire today. The element of fire has not subsided even in this municipality for days, and the most noticeable is the fire in Obrovo, which is burning in different locations.
"Over the weekend alone, we had about 14 interventions, mainly due to low vegetation, all fires were caused by human negligence. In the locations of Žaljevo, Mojstir and Borovac, buildings were threatened, including houses and auxiliary buildings," said the head of the Service. protection and rescue Bijelo Polje Edin Kolić.
Most of the fires were caused by unscrupulous individuals who set fires uncontrollably in order to clear the meadows. They cause immeasurable damage to nature, but no one has been held accountable for it yet.
