Deputy Slaven Radunović defended before the Legislative Committee the amendments to the Law on the Constitutional Court, which he proposed with colleagues from the Europe Now Movement (PES), the Democratic People's Party (DNP), the Socialist People's Party (SNP) and the Albanian Forum.
It foresees an increase in the retirement age of constitutional judges to 67 years and 40 years of service.
This was strongly opposed by the deputies of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), who even asked for the postponement of the debate on this topic, but their proposal did not pass. The Democrats do not support this solution either.
The Minister of Justice also agreed that the manner of arranging this issue should be further considered, answering parliamentary questions in the plenum.
After all, the proponents of the law are also aware of the legal dilemmas it entails, so they have already proposed an amendment to their own proposal which reduces the required years of service for retirement from 40 to 15.
That is why the voting ended in an interesting way - without a single yes vote.
