The Council of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption should be elected as soon as possible so that the institution can function normally, MP Maja Vučelić said at the session of the Anti-Corruption Committee, the first since the arrest of ASK leader Jelena Perović two days ago.

"In the coming period, we will ensure the conditions for that Agency to start working. In order not to get into a situation where they have to be paid, we have to think about the employees, so that they don't get into a situation where Mrs. Perović signs salaries, variables and overtime hours from prison, but that we vote for the Council by May 15 at the Assembly," said Vučelić.

The President of the Committee from DPS, Jevto Eraković, replied that he is convinced that the Commission will soon submit to the Committee five names out of a total of nine applied for the Council of ASK.

"Whether someone will be in prison or not, we will leave it to the judicial authorities to assess, it is possible that nothing will come of your story. If it goes to the commission, rest assured, it will be finished very quickly, knowing its members, and other things we will not comment, but to facilitate the normal work of the institutions," said Eraković.

And for normal work, it is also necessary for the deputies to amend several laws so that the financing of political entities is transparent and legal. This could be heard, among other things, at the Board session where the European Commission's Report for last year was considered.

"Financing of political entities is a topic that is very important for IBAR. There are three items that are not adequately regulated. The law on the financing of political entities and election campaigns must be harmonized with the misdemeanor law, as well as with the law on the election of councilors and deputies, then defining coalitions as legal entities, as well as the definition of non-financial type donations," stated Đanandrea Vila from the EU Delegation in Montenegro.

The observations of the European Commission coincide with the findings of the State Audit Institution, says its senator Zoran Jelić and adds that they have submitted to the Parliament their proposals for amending the Law on the Financing of Political Parties.

"We proposed that political subjects for the purposes of the election campaign cannot spend more funds than they collect. We also proposed that all financing be done through giro accounts, that is, that cash transactions be limited," says Jelić.

"Regarding the Board, unfortunately, we do not receive the documents that you send to the Assembly, even though we should be responsible for everything related to the fight against corruption," said Eraković.

The Committee referred the Initiative to the Collegium of the President of the Assembly to amend the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament, precisely in order to expand its competences.
