Residents of the Pljeval village of Ranche will no longer have to go through the Montenegrin border control to reach their homes, because the Municipality built an access road for them with huge embankments before the Ranche Border Crossing.
When asked how long they waited at the border crossing, Vladimir Gačević, a resident of the village of Ranče, answers:
"How long did you wait at the border crossing? - It depends from day to day, but from half an hour to an hour and a half. Every day, both on arrival and on the way back. First, the investor, that is, the Ministry of the Interior, should have done this trip and after that they are not, then the mayor of the municipality, former Igor Golubović, promised and he did not do the same".
Locals claim that the Ministry of Internal Affairs promised a road during the construction of the Ranche border crossing in 2020. This obligation was then assumed by the Municipality, but this did not happen during the mandate of the former presidents from the ranks of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Igor Golubović and Rajko Kovačević. The work was completed during the term of office of Dario Vraneš from the New Serbian Democracy.
"We perceived in the Municipality of Pljevlja that this is a priority. We cannot allow our citizens to waste two or three hours every day at the border crossing in order to get to their house, which is in the territory of Montenegro. We did the breaking and filling of the road for beginning. The length is 350 meters and it was extremely important for us to do it for these people before the start of the tourist season," says Vraneš.
When asked whether the resident of that village and the director of the Pljevlja company "Local Roads" and one of the organizers of the protest due to the failure of the MUP to fulfill its obligations to the locals - Darko Gačević - influenced the construction of the access road, Vraneš answered as follows.
"Absolutely not. Simply, everyone in Pljevlja knew about this problem. It is a long-standing problem. This was also the responsibility of the state, not the municipality."
Residents of the village of Ranche recently blocked the border crossing with Serbia in protest because even after five years they did not receive money for land expropriation. The money has not yet been paid, because the negotiations are still ongoing, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs has not answered when it will be.
