Laković: Crime is still stronger than the state

Yesterday's explosion in Cetinje, in which the alleged criminals Dragan Roganović and Petar Kaluđerović were killed, and three people were injured, showed that organized crime in Montenegro is still very vital and resistant to the actions of state authorities.

This is what the president of the Committee for Defense and Security, Miodrag Laković, said in "Morning Colors" on Television Vijesti.

He added that this event shows that crime is still stronger than the state.

"Crime is an issue that awaits us in the coming period, a significant and complex issue for all security services but also citizens, we see that they are also threatened in these actions of organized crime, we see that we also had accidental victims," ​​explains Laković.

Of particular concern, Laković points out, is the fact that citizens are also at risk in criminal actions. Laković reminded that a large number of members of the clans are at large, due to the failure to pass judgments within the three-year period and pointed out that since 2020, not enough has been done in the police sector to enable it to adequately deal with organized crime.

"Monitor" journalist Predrag Nikolić questions how much the entire system has done, especially in the last four years.

"We have political elites who openly spread nationalism and deal with completely different topics, as if crime does not exist. Politicians must solve this key issue. We will enter the EU for nothing if criminals are able to continue doing this," Nikolić points out.
