Uncertain political situation in Budva: Will the Municipality get a new leadership or will the citizens go to the polls again?

Although the constitutive session of the Budva Municipal Assembly (SO) is scheduled for Sunday, the political situation is still uncertain.

The holder of the "Budva - our city" list, Nikola Jovanović, is convinced that on July 7 he will provide the necessary support for the formation of the government, and the holder of the "For the future of Budva - Budva open city" list, Mladen Mikijelj, who met today, is leading talks with potential partners. with representatives of the Europe Now Movement (PES).

And while the party represented by Predrag Zenović in the elections in Budva does not reveal who they will support, Democratic Montenegro says they are ready to cooperate with those who manage to secure the support of other papers.

A month and a half after the local elections, it is still uncertain whether the Municipality of Budva will soon get a new management, or whether the citizens will go to the polls again.

The constitutive session of the local parliament, where mandates should be verified and its president elected, is scheduled for Sunday, and the holder of the list "Budva - our city" is confident that by then he will provide the support of the necessary 17 councilors for the formation of the government.

"We already have information that there is a mood for the formation of the government in Budva, but it remains that in the coming days, i.e. until Sunday, additional discussions will take place and by the session itself we will see whether the majority that should constitute the new convocation of the Municipal Assembly has been determined Budva," said Jovanović.

Conversations with potential partners, apart from Jovanović and his list, are also conducted by the electoral list "For the future of Budva - Budva open city", whose representatives met with the Europe Now Movement (PES).

"We are only at the beginning, we are holding talks, but we do not see that there are any bad items or omissions in terms of potential future cooperation. We and PES and the Democrats are open to the fact that tomorrow the electoral will of the citizens of Budva will be respected and that, if it is possible , we are forming the government in Budva", said Miladen Mikijelj, holder of the list "For the future of Budva - Budva is an open city".

Although they haven't talked to PES yet, they count on their support in Jovanović's team as well. The position of the list led by Predrag Zenović in Budva, who did not answer TV Vijesta's questions on this topic, is currently unknown.

From Democratic Montenegro, on the other hand, they say that they are ready to form the government with those who provide the support of the required number of councilors.

"The key criteria are to respect the principles and election program of our list, but also to finally form a stable and functional government, because what Budva is experiencing now is only the product of the irresponsibility of those two currents of the former DF. We did not discuss the offers, nor we set any conditions," said Đorđe Zenović, the holder of the list of Democrats.

There is room for discussion between the former partners regarding the resolution of the government crisis in Budva, according to the leaders of the two currents. However, hatchets, all opportunities, have no intention of burying.

"We didn't talk to Mr. Jovanovic, but we talked to the representatives of the list 'Budva, our city'. As you can see, the other side is not ready for talks with us, and therefore somewhere takes responsibility for the potential wrongdoing of the authorities in the Municipality of Budva," he said. is Mikijelj.

"Certain political subjects from that electoral list were sent a request for talks, offers to form a government. What I see is that there is no mood. They will not even be invited to the New Serbian Democracy for the simple reason that they lead and represent the New Serbian Democracy in Budva those people who led to the downfall of the previous government," said Jovanović.

The legal deadline for forming a new convocation of the Budva local parliament expires on August 6. If this does not happen by then, the Law on Local Self-Government prescribes the calling of new elections, which, as things stand now, are the most certain solution.
