The mosque in the village of Bistrica in Bijelo Polje operates outside the control of the Islamic Community of Montenegro. That is why the Majlis of the Islamic Community in Bijelo Polje filed a criminal complaint against local residents Ferid Mušović, Sakib Čindrak, Feko Aličković and Hasib Grbović for, as they claimed in the complaint, unauthorized management of the mosque and property of that religious community.
In the report, they say that these four people are collecting money from believers by unauthorized use of the seal of the Islamic Community. The Islamic community did not want to comment on this situation in detail for Television News.
About a month before the Bijelo Polje Mejlis filed the criminal complaint, Ferid Mušović, a resident of Bistrica, did it, against whom a criminal complaint was later filed.
"On March 18, 2024, the Bijelo Polje FM submitted a report to the security department against the previous president of the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Bijelo Polje, HM, who, according to the FM, did not allow the handover of the seal. The police acted on this report, collected the necessary notifications and case files submitted to the competent Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje", stated the Police Administration.
Mušović confirmed this in an interview with TV Vijesti and pointed out that he did it because of the former, legitimately elected mosque committee, which he and a group of Bistrica residents dismissed at the end of February due to, as he claims, behind-the-scenes actions of that committee, which he did not want to talk about. He claims that the locals invested in and built the mosque and other facilities in its yard, and that the former board disposed of the money and made decisions without their consent. He points out that the current board was elected by the free will of the locals and that they have been acting independently for 40 years. Mušović also said that he, and also reported Sakib Čindrak, do not practice religion.
"I'm a believer in my heart, but I don't know how to pray, neither does Čindrak. I first went to Čindrak as the president of the local community, who supported the whole story, and then to the police," says Mušović.
He adds that during the holy Islamic month of Ramadan, more than 9.000 euros were collected from the contributions of believers. When asked who controls the spending of money, when the Islamic Community is not already doing it, Mušović said that they have their own supervisor for finances in the board. After all, it is waiting for the Prosecution to resolve the whole situation.
