For decades, he has been the heart and soul of the Hotel Pina and the city... The waiter, Vesko Obradović, is there when guests come for their first morning coffee, and when, in the evening, they return to enjoy the shade of the old palm trees. And while the years pass, carried by the whirlwind of time, Vesko, now about to retire, remembers his beginnings.
"I took my first steps in hospitality back in 1975 at the Sandžak hotel... until 1978," says Obradović.
That year, he entered the Faculty of Philology, but because of the war, he stopped his studies and returned to catering.
Although an unsuspecting professor of Russian language and literature, Vesko points out that he has never regretted his decision.
With longing in his eyes, Obradović notes that he no longer has the desire and will to learn this craft to perfection.
He also remembers the time when Tivat was the main destination for tourists from all over Yugoslavia...
He always comes to work an hour early, checks every detail, because, as he says, every guest deserves to be greeted with care and respect. Even though he is retiring in a few months, Vesko hopes that he has taught at least one colleague how to love this job.
His work, kindness and dedication remain permanently etched in the hearts of many who were lucky enough to know him. Vesko Obradović, a silent legend of the Tivat hospitality scene, leaves behind a mark that cannot be easily erased...
