Marko Radović, the lawyer of the Turkish citizen Binali Čamgoz, whom the Government extradited to Turkey last night, assessed the decision as scandalous, adding that there is no basis for it in the law.
Radović says that they found out about the extradition from the media, but they haven't seen the decision on it yet, because it was sent to them by mail yesterday.
The government announced last night that it had extradited Čamgoz, because he was accused in Turkey of creating a criminal organization and attempted murder, but also because he is a threat to our national security, but Radović claims that these cannot be valid reasons for extradition, according to the Law on international legal assistance in criminal matters and according to the European Convention on Extradition.
He says that they have no information about where their client is, but they are afraid that he will not be treated well in Turkey, for the reasons that they pointed out earlier and on which the previous Minister of Justice, Andrej Milović, based his decision to refuse the extradition of Čamgoz to Turkey.
"The decision, which we can freely say from a legal point of view, is scandalous, a decision like this has never been made in history. I can freely say that we are still in a state of wonder and shock," said Radović.
When asked what the defense will do, he answers:
"All the legal actions and steps that we will take in the next period cannot have the effect of returning Binali Camgoza from Turkey, that is a finished matter, but we will initiate appropriate procedures primarily in the direction of determining the responsibility, namely criminal, of the persons who participated in After we receive the Decision, after analyzing it, we will file criminal charges, we will schedule a conference for the media and present a lot of interesting facts that are not known to the media and the public."
