The first in a series of local elections during September, those in Gusinje, are held next Sunday, and the race for power is between the coalition led by the Bosniak Party and the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS).
From the parties that make up the Government, for the first time in the local elections in the municipality below Prokletije, Democratic Montenegro will take part, and the tipping point in the formation of the future government could be two Albanian lists.
In the upcoming local elections in Gusinje on September 15, parties and groups of voters are going out in five columns. The ruling Bosniak Party (BS) is in coalition with new partners the Social Democrats (SD) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Together with them and the Albanian coalition, at the beginning of the year, they replaced the long-term government of DPS in Gusinje, and the current president of the municipality is at the head of this list.
"In the last ten months, we have been in power together with SD and SDP. We have shown that we are fighting for this city with our hearts. We created the winter Winter Fest, then the ice rink that was in the city, and everything, of course, the improvement of the infrastructure, all projects that were realized and all the projects that were started, even though ten years ago there was only talk about these projects," said Sanel Balić, holder of the BS-SD-SDP list.
Although both BS and DPS claim that they are in the mood to form a post-election coalition with everyone, the pre-election fights between these two parties send the message that they are dividing the electorate.
"Our list is one of the few lists that has ten highly educated people in it. A list that also has 12 women. A list that has almost 15 people who are under 30 years old. When I take all that into account, then it is clear to you that this one winning list. While we were in power in Gusinje, we left a lot of important infrastructure projects behind. When we return to power, we will complete the main project for Gusinje is Demir Bajrović, holder of the DPS list.
For the first time in the local elections in Gusinje, the Democrats will take part, while the Albanian options go in two columns.
On the first list is the "Movement for Gusinje" group of voters, headed by Fadil Uljaj - the current member of the Albanian coalition in the Gusinje parliament, while on the second list of the Albanian Forum, the Albanian parties were together: the Democratic Alliance of Albanians, the Albanian Alternative and the Democratic Union of Albanians, and it is led by Salih Đonbaljaj.
The right to vote in the local elections in Gusinje has 4.618 voters, which is 57 more than in the parliamentary elections on June 11 last year.
