Imagine Bear Grylls fighting challenges on the peaks of Durmitor, in the Tara Canyon or on the wild shores of Lake Skadar. This world-famous television adventurer tells Television Vijesti that he finds the raw and untouched nature of our country and how tempting it is.
"I sailed a lot near Montenegro, but I didn't spend enough time there. I was in Serbia and spent a lot of time in Croatia and Greece".
When asked if he would survive a month in Montenegro, he says...
"Well, I hope so, but you must never be too relaxed. Because it is very hot, but I think we would have a chance. We would fight and succeed."
It was the struggle and perseverance that brought world fame to this adventurer and television star, known for his extreme expeditions and survival in the wilderness. Grylls inspires millions of people around the world to take on life's challenges with courage and perseverance.
"I think adventure is a state of mind, I always feel that way. It's the way we live our lives. It's not just climbing a mountain or traveling through the desert. It's the way we approach our goals, dreams, relationships, work and daily responsibilities so to try to live with that adventurous spirit as much as possible", says Grils.
However, he says that adventure tourism should not become a threat to natural resources, and that ecological sustainability must be a priority.
"One of my roles as the chief ambassador for World Scouting is to represent 57 million young people. Before adventure, before anything else is respect for the planet and I think Scouts are a great example of that. Wherever they go, I see them working together, cleaning. They love their motto: recycle, reuse, restore. It's beautiful to see."
He adds that the show "Running Wild", which he now hosts, is a privilege and says that all his guests, including political and movie stars, came with the intention of getting out of their comfort zone.
There is strength in going outside, in nature, with friends, to push ourselves a little beyond the limits. 'Running WILD' does exactly that. I love that. Let it last as long as possible. I am always grateful for the trust the stars show me."
Grils believes that legacy is not only in what we leave behind, but in the way we live each day. He says that it is important to stay true to your principles, even in difficult times. Mistakes, he says, are an inevitable part of that journey, but the bottom line is that we never give up.
