Although they thought they were permanently provided with housing, the beneficiaries of the Regional Housing Program in the Podgorica settlement Vrela ribnička, refugees and displaced persons from the area of the former Yugoslavia, received contracts for only three years, which, they claim, is in contradiction with the Law on Social Housing, which provides longer period without possibility of extension.
They claim that they are under pressure to sign contracts, while the competent institutions avoid clear answers and say that they work in accordance with the law.
Brought to a state of legal uncertainty, the tenants, while waiting for the Ombudsman's opinion, launched a petition seeking lease contracts in accordance with the law and the goal of the European Union project.
