These are the new cars for the police, the Volvo XC40, probably one of the last cars you would think of that the police could use for their purposes...

The Contract between the MUP and the company "Osmanagić" states that it is an open public procurement procedure for the procurement of new M1 category patrol vehicles through operational leasing, with the obligation to return the leased item to the lessor, after payment of all installments of the leasing fee.

In case of total damage or impossibility of repair within 15 days, the lessor will deliver a replacement vehicle of the same or higher class.

And this small Volvo SUV is in a class of its own, a luxury car in the range of Mercedes, Audi and BMW, as you can see on the website, prices range from 43.900 euros to as much as 54 euros. On the website, you can also see a special Black edition variant for 55.700 euros.

This XC40 B3 is still highlighted in the ads, the price of which has been reduced from an astronomical 55 thousand for a small SUV to 43 thousand.

And these police officers will cost us 24 euros, or rather their lease for three years.

The open procedure for the procurement of 23 new patrol vehicles through leasing was worth 639.649 euros. Three companies applied for the MUP tender: "Osmanagić", the importer of Opel and Volvo, which ultimately won, "AutoČačak", the importer of Škoda, which was the runner-up, and Prokom, the importer of Peugeot, Suzuki and Mitsubishi, whose offer rejected.

All this information was confirmed to us by the Ministry of Interior, but we did not receive an explanation as to whether the luxurious Volvo is an adequate vehicle for ordinary police work.

Let us remind you that in July, the Commission for the Protection of Rights in Public Procurement Procedures issued a decision that accepted the appeal of the company "Osmanagić" and annulled as illegal the decision of the MUP on the selection of 75 Škodas for the police administration's patrol cars.

The decision decided to repeat the procedure and make a new decision on the most favorable bidder, and the opposition called on the Special State Prosecutor's Office to react.

All of this followed the problem with the procurement of new cars, which caused the state to experience embarrassment in the summer of 2021, as the police were forced to park "Opels" from 2018 due to the expiration of the lease. When the parked "Swedes" will be on the streets, who will use them and why they bought them, we have not received an official answer from the MUP.
