The fourth attempt to elect an ombudsman of Radio Television of Montenegro also failed. At today's session, the retired longtime journalist of the Public Service Vesna Pejović, and the editor of Television 7, Milutin Stijepović, did not get the green light.
Therefore, the Council will soon announce a new competition. The institution of the RTCG ombudsman has been in a sort of acting state for about four months, as long as the election lasts, which has been followed by controversies from the very beginning.
Apart from this, the draft of the new RTCG Statute was not adopted at today's session, and the vice-president of the Council, Marijana Camović Veličković, had the most objections.
She believes that the Council's powers are reduced by the new Statute. On the other hand, the legal department of the Public Service says that not much has deviated from the previous act.
The legal service should include all proposals by tomorrow, and in the afternoon the members of the Council will vote again on the draft Statute in an electronic session.
