Of the six judges in the Special Division of the High Court, as many as four applied to advance to the Court of Appeal. As the competition is not great, it is very likely that the department, which has more than 160 cases of organized crime, will soon fall to an even smaller number of judges while waiting for help.
All the more because the Judicial Council announced another advertisement for the Court of Appeals last Sunday, thus opening the door wide for judges who are currently judging some of the most important cases in the country.
"We cannot be surprised if a judge from this department decides to apply for a position that does not require extraordinary efforts to maintain the basic functionality of the court's work and is not exposed to daily pressures from the public and the executive," says Anastasija Stefanović from the NGO Action for Human Rights. rights.
Judges of the Special Division Vesna Kovačević, Nenad Vujanović, Igor Đuričković and Sonja Keković applied for promotion to the Court of Appeal.
All of them judge some of the most complex cases in the country, among which are those against Duško Knežević, Dejan Peruničić, Radoj Zvicer, Lidija Mitrović, the accused in the Stanovi affair, Slavko Stojanović and numerous others.
