Alija Balijagić is well known to judicial authorities. He was a frequent guest in the Elementary and High Courts and the Court for Misdemeanors in Bijelo Polje, but also in the courts of a number of other Montenegrin municipalities. As many as 16 verdicts were handed down to him, and among them were single sentences for two or more criminal acts.
According to the judgments of the Montenegrin courts, Balijagić was sentenced to 24 years and nine months in prison. While according to the verdict of the District Court in Uzice, he was sentenced to a single prison sentence of seven years and 10 months.
According to official data from the Police Administration, Balijagić was in prison for 32 years. Most often, he was convicted of thefts or robberies, but also for possession of weapons, preventing police officers from doing their job, as well as causing injuries...
However, the case that attracted the most attention was the rape of a seventy-six-year-old woman, for which the High Court sentenced him to seven years in prison in May 2016.
