Political analyst Boris Marić, in a guest appearance on TV Vijesti's "Colors of the Morning" program, pointed out that the situation in the security sector and the potential blockade of the Constitutional Court represent serious threats to the stability of the system in Montenegro.
Marić specifically criticized the appointment of the new head of the secret service, pointing to the issue of transparency.
"The appointment of a person who until recently had two citizenships opens numerous questions about the criteria for such important positions. The security sector must undergo essential reforms so that citizens can have confidence in the institutions that protect them," said Marić.
He also referred to the crisis in the judiciary, warning of a possible blockade of the Constitutional Court.
"The Constitutional Court is facing a serious challenge, because after the retirement of three judges, it will be left without a quorum to make decisions. This could have far-reaching consequences, especially at a time when important election processes are expected," Marić stressed.
According to him, a functional and independent Constitutional Court is crucial for the rule of law and democratic development of the country.
"Without the Constitutional Court, we risk a complete blockade of the legal system, which can destabilize the political and social scene," added Marić.
He concluded that urgent reforms and a responsible personnel policy in the security sector and the judiciary are necessary in order for Montenegro to overcome the current challenges and embark on the path of stability and progress.
