During 2025, the Port of Kotor plans to host close to 500 ships, which will bring about 700.000 passengers. This impressive number of arrivals heralds a record year for Kotor, and Maja Danilović, spokeswoman for Port of Kotor, spoke about this in an interview with Boje jutra TV Vijesti.
"The first cruise ships arrive at the beginning of the year, but the real season starts in April. In 2025, we expect a total of 485 ships, and our city will host hundreds of thousands of tourists. This represents a great potential for our economy, because we earn from cruise tourism, which has a positive effect on the city and local economy", said Maja Danilović.
She also mentioned that Kotor will be faced with the challenge of introducing new traffic lines, among which the new Kotor-Dubrovnik line is particularly interesting. During the next year, 35 hydrofoils will connect Kotor and Dubrovnik, which will allow easier and faster access for passengers, but also facilitate transportation for citizens and tourists.
The issue of sustainability in tourism was also a topic of discussion. Maja Danilović emphasized that the Port of Kotor, as a responsible company, follows ecological standards and implements measures to preserve the marine environment.
"We have installed equipment for monitoring water and air quality in the marine area. Also, we are working on projects that will help reduce pollution and improve the capacity of the port," she added.
Considering the number of boat arrivals and the growing interest of tourists, Kotor is preparing for another successful season.
"This year we recorded a 10% increase in revenue compared to the previous year, with around 476 ships and 600.000 passengers. "Kotor remains an attractive destination for tourists from all over the world, including the USA, Scandinavia, France, England and Australia," said Danilović.
Through such initiatives, the Port of Kotor strives to improve the tourist offer and increase the number of visits, while taking into account the preservation of natural resources and sustainable development.
