The Law on Legal Recognition of Gender Identity Based on Self-Determination, which was supposed to be debated by MPs at the end of last year, is being delayed because members of the Government requested additional consultations.
This was told to Television Vijesti by the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, adding that they expect a discussion in parliament soon.
The head of the parliamentary group of the strongest ruling Europe Now Movement, Vasilije Čarapić, supports the law in principle, and the NGO "Spektra" says that the human rights of transgender people have been waiting too long.
