Last year, the Health Insurance Fund of Montenegro paid 738.783 euros to private health institutions for magnetic resonance imaging.
Three clinics with which the Fund has contracts received the money: Hipokrat - 490.942,50 euros, Konzilujum - 208.435,05 euros, and Moj Lab - 39.406,00 euros.
TV Vijesti announced on Saturday that the two largest general hospitals in Montenegro - Nikšić and Bijelo Polje, have been waiting for more than two years for the promised magnetic resonance imaging machines, for which the tenders were canceled, which is why the procedure is starting from scratch.
These hospitals will be requesting MRI machines worth a million euros each in the new procedure, with different specifications, because the ones previously ordered are already outdated.
The Montenegrin public health system has 4 functional magnetic resonance imaging machines. The Clinical Center has three, one of which is in the Children's Clinic, the Clinical Hospital Center in Berane has one magnetic resonance imaging machine, while a new device intended for the General Hospital in Bar is in the installation phase.
The Ministry of Health says that the purchase of MRI machines is planned for the KCCG and KBC Kotor, reminding that the procurement of magnetic resonance imaging machines for the Nikšić and Bijelo Polje hospitals is in the process.
