Around 300 pensioners with proportional pensions have submitted a request for the state to pay them the difference up to the minimum pension of 450 euros, said Milka Vraneš, assistant director of the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund, in an interview with Boje jutra.
"A beneficiary of a proportional pension who is entitled, meaning under an interstate agreement, who has a permanent residence in Montenegro, if his pension and the pension from Montenegro are less than 450 euros, has the right to be paid the difference of up to 450 euros. He will provide us with a certificate of residence from Montenegro, a confirmation from a foreign insurance carrier about the amount of the pension he receives from a foreign insurance carrier, one or more pensions, depending on whether the state is the beneficiary of the pension. He will provide us with his retirement decision, if he has one. He probably received it when he became entitled to a pension from a foreign carrier. He will provide us with a statement from a notary stating from how many states he is entitled to a pension. He will submit all these documents with the applications to our regional unit. We have nine regional units and five offices where they can submit these applications. That means in the place where they live."
However, some pensioners are currently having trouble obtaining confirmation of their pension amount in another country. Since this is personal information, the Pension and Disability Insurance Fund could not access it by law, Vranes pointed out.
"We have noticed that the process of obtaining this information has been somewhat slower since the law came into force, which is on February 10th. We have invited beneficiaries to submit a request, to submit all the documentation they can provide here in Montenegro. And this document, or rather the data on the amount of their pension that they receive from a foreign insurance carrier, will be provided to us as soon as possible. As soon as they provide it. And of course, we will not be able to make a decision on securing that right, or on the amount of that difference, until they provide us with those certificates. If the party submitted the request in February, they are entitled to that difference until March, and it will be paid on April 20th when the pension for March is paid," Vraneš stated.
