The Supreme Court rejected the appeal of former President of the Commercial Court Blaž Jovanić against his removal from office in 2022, after criminal proceedings were initiated against him.
Jovanić's dismissal was as clean as a tear, according to a Supreme Court judge, while Jovanić sought the annulment of what he claims is the unconstitutional decision of the Judicial Council on his dismissal, as well as the ruling of the Administrative Court, which rejected his lawsuit on that occasion.
The Supreme Court assessed that the initiation of proceedings against Jovanić was due to suspicion of creating a criminal organization - a reason why his remaining in office would harm the interests of the Commercial Court.
Although he was removed from the position of president, Jovanić remains a judge of that court until the criminal proceedings are concluded.
