The president of the Education Union, Radomir Božović, said he hopes that the hunger strike, which several professors at the Bijelo Polje High School have announced in the event that director Jasminka Međedović is not replaced, will not happen.
He emphasized that it is the responsibility of the Ministry of Education to decide on further steps, including the possible replacement of the director.
Božović, while appearing on "Colors of Morning" on Television Vijesti, also commented on the role of school security guards, emphasizing that their training is not sufficient for preventing violence, and that clear regulation of their tasks is needed.
"Violence is omnipresent, we see it on social media, through various videos... I'm not entirely sure whether they are the ones who can prevent this peer violence. These are people with practically no training, regarding relationships with children, relationships with teachers. It's about interpersonal relationships, have they undergone any training? These are the security guards, the ones from the security that we recognized and met at sporting events, football matches, basketball matches, who secured people and facilities in various shopping malls, banks... I'm not sure whether they are capable of arbitrating and preventing peer violence," said Božović.
