The reconstruction of the Đurđevića Tara Bridge is planned to begin in May, and the expropriation of the land is currently underway, which the state will pay for from the capital budget of the Transport Administration.
As the director of the Traffic Administration, Radomir Vuksanović, said in Boje jutra on Vijesti TV, the reconstruction is being financed by Chinese funds, and the contractor is a Chinese company.
"The construction permit has been obtained, and Minister Maja Vukićević has signed an annex to the agreement with the Government of China. The contractor has already prepared a camp near the bridge and is ready to begin work. The work will last eight months, but delays are possible in the event of adverse weather conditions during the winter. During the reconstruction, traffic will alternately be on one lane, while in certain phases of the work there will be total closures, depending on the dynamics of the work," said Vuksanović.
When asked about alternative routes, Vuksanović stated that work is currently being carried out on the Vrulja - Mijakovići road, which should be completed in September.
The Traffic Administration plans to avoid total shutdowns in the period from June 15th, in order to allow normal traffic flow during the summer tourist season.
Vuksanović pointed out that there is positive feedback from the local population, who support the project, because the completion of the reconstruction will contribute to the development of tourism and hospitality. The bridge will also receive decorative lighting, which will extend the stay of visitors to this important facility.
Ecological aspects of the works
In order to preserve the natural ecosystem of the Tara River, an environmental protection study was prepared with strict ecological standards.
Contractors are required to submit a work plan that specifies environmental protection measures.
Safety and quality of work
The safety of workers and citizens will be ensured through compliance with prescribed construction standards and supervision of the execution of works.
Vuksanović also said that the quality of the works is guaranteed by double control, since supervision will be carried out by both a Chinese and a Montenegrin team of experts.
The Đurđevića Tara Bridge is one of the most important cultural monuments in Montenegro, and its reconstruction will be approached with special attention.
Podgorica-Danilovgrad Boulevard
When asked about problems with roads, such as the Podgorica-Danilovgrad boulevard, Vuksanović replied that in the last ten years, traffic on that section has increased by 60 percent, which required additional planning solutions.
Monteput has issued a public call for proposals for the development of a conceptual design for the new expressway route, in order to prepare planning and project documentation on time.
Public reactions were sparked by the information that the Podgorica-Danilovgrad boulevard was built two and a half years ago for 24 million euros, but that it does not meet the standards of a highway due to the excessive number of roundabouts, which is why Monteput issued a public call for proposals for the development of a conceptual design for a new highway route between these two cities.
Vuksanović said in Colors of Morning that we need to think ahead and that conceptual projects must be prepared.
Bypass around Podgorica and problems with tenders
The Director of the Traffic Administration also says that the tender for the construction of a bypass around Podgorica was canceled due to procedural problems and complaints from bidders.
A repeat of the tender process was planned, which caused a delay of several months.
