Since the beginning of this month, the service of organizing cremation has been available to Montenegrin citizens, Bojana Klikovac, Advisor to the Executive Director of the company Pogrebne usluge doo, told "Boje jutra" and explained how the decision to introduce this and that possibility was made.

"We felt, due to a large number of inquiries, the need for citizens to have the option of cremation, and for that reason we decided to cooperate with the public utility company Lisije from Novi Sad. With this service, we have enabled the citizens of Montenegro to no longer have to manage on their own, so we are here to help them with administrative and logistical support. So, from the moment a death occurs, the family calls our number, which is available 24 hours a day, and from that moment on, we take over the entire process and organize everything," she said.

Klikovac explained what this procedure entails.

"When opening a request, the family should submit a death certificate, a death certificate and a death report. There should also be a certificate of ownership of the burial site. There should also be authorized consents for collecting documentation, cremation and transport, so that our company performs all administrative tasks for the family, contacts consulates and inspections for the international transport of mortal remains," she stated.

The price of this service is 1316 euros, Klikovac pointed out.

"This includes transport, cremation, organization, collection of the urn, and these are the costs that are included in that price. As for additional costs, the cost of the urn is from 80 to 200 euros. There is also funeral equipment, it all depends on the family's wishes, from 680 to 1100 euros. Then there is a cold storage room, if needed, 90 euros per day," she added.

The advisor to the executive director of the Funeral Services company said that they have not yet provided this service, but that there is great interest from citizens, and that they receive calls every day, because citizens are interested in the procedure and the process itself.

She also answered the question of how the family of the deceased can dispose of the urn, and whether there are any restrictions.

"When submitting the request, the family must also have a certificate of ownership of the burial site, and let me say that it does not have to be just a burial site in one of the city cemeteries, Čepurci, Zagorić or Novo Groblje, it can also be other cemeteries, so the family must have that certificate," she said.

Klikovac also revealed that the construction of a crematorium is planned for the second phase of works at the New City Cemetery.

"As soon as all conditions are met, we will begin implementing this very important project," she concluded.
