Although the opening of Veljko Vlahović Boulevard was planned for May 9th, the works are still ongoing. The new expected completion date is June 15th, confirmed to Boje jutra on TV Vijesti from the Podgorica Construction and Development Agency.

"This is a new deadline defined by the annex to the contract with the contractor. By then, both lanes should be completed. The contractor is obliged to complete both and to complete two significant intersections where there will be intense traffic. These are the intersection with Cvjetna Street and the intersection with Josipa Broza Tito Street. These intersections will be equipped with traffic lights. We have 12 streets that connect to the boulevard. We hope that the other six two-lane intersections will be completed by the beginning of July," said Nevenka Radulović, Head of the Construction and Supervision Service.

The final works on the right lane are currently being carried out. On the left lane, which is already open to traffic, two of the three planned layers of asphalt have been laid.

"In a length of 800 meters, while on the other lengths of 900 meters, work is underway on installing a buffer layer, installing curbs, installing sidewalks, then cover grilles on hydrotechnical installations, installing lighting poles and so on," said Radulović.

The delay, according to the Agency, was caused by poor weather conditions and rainy days, 68 of which were registered from October, when the works began, until March, as well as problems with underground installations and unforeseen works, including the removal of remaining bombs from World War II, the Agency added.

The value of the works is 3,7 million euros including VAT, and the contractor is the company Crnagoraput.
