Ninety-nine patients, including eight children, are waiting for organ transplants in our country.
In order to increase citizens' awareness of donating their own organs in the event of death, the authorities have relaunched a campaign on the importance of donor cards, and the Minister of Health and the Director of the Croatian Center for Organ Transplantation (KCCG) were among the first to sign it, announced Ivana Živković, the president of the National Coordination Body for Organ Transplantation, in "Boje jutra".
As she stated, numerous healthcare workers, patients, their families, and public officials are showing interest.
According to Dr. Aleksandar Magdelinić, transplants in Montenegro are currently only possible from living related donors, while cadaveric transplantation is the key to developing the system.
Considering that there are very few donor cards at the moment, around 20, the interlocutors of "Color of Morning" believe that the campaign will change that.
