Smoke covers the Morača riverbed, and machines continue to illegally clear its course, and it is clear that the fight against gravel exploitation and environmental crime has not been won.
The Regional Water Supply Company is aware of this, and they say that, although to a lesser extent, gravel is still being exploited. While they are relying on the announced formation of special units for river protection, former Minister of Ecology and MP for the Water Resources and Water Resources Development Agency Ana Novaković Đurović attributes the standstill to the current government and claims that the fight is futile without support from the highest level.
She also warns that illegal gravel exploitation, if it continues, could turn off the taps on the coast.
