The capital will have information by September on whether the construction of the wastewater treatment plant in Bootun is harmful in terms of environmental impact.
This was stated by Podgorica Mayor Saša Mujović in "Colors of Morning" on TV Vijesti.
The first man of Podgorica denies that the issue of building a collector in Zeta is a political issue, but rather that it is solely about the dissatisfaction of the residents of Botun, who oppose its construction and are seeking a new location.
In the meantime, the Ministry of Finance will have to request an extension of the deadline from foreign partners for the implementation of this project.
"Calculate, July 2, 25 working days, and let's see what the Environmental Protection Agency's position will be. So, roughly, let's say, around September, I think we will have the information on whether, from the aspect of environmental impact, this facility is harmful," said Mujović.
When asked if that would be enough for the citizens of Zeta, he says: "I don't know, I've talked to them in several iterations, their position is quite firm, unchanged."
Mujović, asked if foreign partners were willing to be patient until September, said that they were.
"It is important that we show 'signs of life' and that we work intensively on it. One of the steps we must take in the meantime is that the Ministry of Finance must contact KfW Bank with a request to extend the spending of the unspent part of the loan funds. Of the 35 million loan, some six million euros remain unspent. The deadline for using these funds expires on June 30th and we must request an extension of the possibility of spending these funds. We will get that, according to unofficial information we received from KfW Bank, but we must show the initiative to really work seriously on this project."
Mujović also answered the question of whether the investigation into the location at KAP has been completed.
"It didn't even start at KAP, for the simple reason that I received a negative response from the KfW bank and the European Union, or rather the ministry. They clearly stated that any new examination would require time. This would call into question the closure of Chapter 27 and block our path to the EU," he said.
