Although middle-level medical staff dissatisfied with their salaries will protest in front of his department tomorrow, Health Minister Vojislav Šimun says that the dialogue is open and that the Ministry is already negotiating with representative unions. Medical technicians have warned that they receive salaries up to 10 percent lower than their colleagues from other sectors with the same qualifications,
"The ministry has been attentive so far, so we have already met a few times, and this is a solution that needs to be discussed more seriously, we know how to discuss it, which reference institutions are involved, in what way and with which unions. So we have already started that dialogue, there was a meeting a few days ago," the minister told TV Vijesti.
Tenders for MRIs for hospitals in Nikšić and Bijelo Polje have been falling for two and a half years, and the Health Insurance Fund pays private clinics hundreds of thousands of euros for this type of examination. Šimun explained to TV Vijesti that public procurement procedures for MRI machines are not under the direct jurisdiction of his department.
"With the help of KBC Berane, we have increased magnet examinations up north, so we have allocated examinations from private health institutions to public health institutions. What I have to mention is that we had a successful tender for OB Bar. As far as these two tender procedures are concerned, there was a position from before that they would go together, procure together for both, and I must say that given that the competence for announcing the tender itself has now been transferred to the Ministry of Public Works," he stated.
While the problems with magnetic resonance imaging continue, KCCG and OB Nikšić are now richer for two modern mammograms worth around 450 thousand euros, donated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Director of the Clinical Center, Aleksandar Radović, states that the incidence of breast cancer in Montenegro is high, and that the new mammograms will play an important role in the fight for early detection of breast cancer.
"This device will provide great opportunities to detect malignant changes in women in a timely manner. And when reacted to in a timely manner, I must say that the data shows that 4/5 of the disease is curable," explains Radović.
Aware that it is in the public interest, but without getting into personal decisions, the director of the Nikšić General Hospital, Zoran Mrkić, confirmed to TV Vijesti that the head of the Neuropsychiatry Department had resigned and jeopardized the work of the entire Department, only to be transferred to the Emergency Department in Plužine after just a few days.
"It's a personal decision, someone goes on a cruise, someone goes to the mountains. Everything we did wasn't enough to keep him. But I have to tell you better news, as of this morning, a psychiatrist colleague has been working with us who has come for at least a year, and a vacancy has also been announced for two psychologists," Mrkić pointed out.
In the end, patients wait for examinations, institutions bid for tenders and new equipment, and medical workers receive higher salaries.
