In an interview for Boje jutra on TV Vijesti, favorite singer-songwriter Sergej Ćetković opened his heart and shared the story of a magical night in Skadarlija that unexpectedly triggered an avalanche of emotions and brought his old ballad "Niso mi dal da te volim" back into the spotlight.
"I don't believe in coincidences. That night everything just happened – the people, the place, the music. History happened."
Although he hadn't performed the song in almost two years, the spontaneous moment with a street musician playing his song on Skadarlija sparked an avalanche of reactions. The video went viral, and Sergej admits he was moved to the core.
"At two in the morning I had to share that video. You don't plan a moment like that – it finds you."
By revealing the story behind the song itself – a true love story about a couple reunited after 50 years – Sergej reminded us once again how much music has the power to touch the deepest part of us.
But this story was more than nostalgia. It was also a reminder.
"The time we live in is filled with unnecessary information and violence. We have forgotten to be human, to be grateful, to show respect."
Sergej believes that emotions are what save us. That family values, honesty and simplicity are true strength. This is precisely what inspires him to create.
"Family is a safe haven. And poems are created when something touches the heart – whether it's a meeting, a farewell, or some silence."
When asked "If he could send one message to the entire region, what would it be?", Sergej answered with words that best reflect his character and musical mission — simply, sincerely, and from the heart.
"Let's get back to ourselves while we still have time. Let's appreciate every day, be there for each other and love each other. Let's seek peace and give love."
Big concert in Podgorica
To top it all off, Sergej announced a big concert next year in Podgorica, which, he says, will be special.
"I haven't changed my path for 26 years. Music, image, family – that's my choice," says Ćetković.
