The Mayor of the Municipality of Tivat, Željko Komnenović, pointed out in "Colors of Morning" on TV Vijesti that the works on the Tivat - Jaz boulevard are currently the biggest challenge for the municipality and the coast, but that despite that he is satisfied with the tourist season.

"We are aware that the crowds are large, but this is a serious infrastructure project with a complex underground network, regional water supply, electricity network, etc. The works are living matter and mistakes happen. In any case, I hope that the coming days will mark the completion of the works at the very entrance to the boulevard in Tivat and the connection with the access road to Tivat Airport," he said, emphasizing that there were frequent interruptions in the supply of water and electricity.

Although current statistics show that Tivat has close to eight thousand registered guests and that the season is only 19 percent weaker than the record year of 2019, Komnenović states that the lower number of tourists from Serbia is partly a consequence of the political situation in that country.

"Guests from Serbia are still leading with 29 percent, followed by Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Great Britain, and Turkey. Serbia is a dominant market for us, and we all know that the political climate in Serbia has been unstable in recent months," he said.

Foreign tourists are increasingly arriving thanks to airline routes such as Tivat-Barcelona, and Israeli flights have been re-established.

Komnenović said that as many as six beaches are not yet fully ready, although in Tivat they are mostly hotel beaches. There are also problems with anchorages, where tenders were delayed.

The mayor admits that prices in Tivat are high.

"Deutsche for more than 2 euros on Pine, that's not logical. Unfortunately, we don't have the authority to influence prices," he pointed out.

Komnenović also commented on the fact that private publishers dominate, while hotel capacities lag behind.

At its last session, the government made a decision on changes to the State Study for the Župa sector, where a new hotel complex and school are planned, which Komnenović sees as a "step forward".

As one of the initiators of returning jurisdiction over the coastal zone to municipalities, Komnenović believes that decentralization would solve many existing problems.
