Lukšić: The largest number of interventions occur on inaccessible beaches, mainly in bad weather conditions.

In the past few months, 9 search and rescue operations at sea have been recorded, where members of the Maritime Safety Administration saved up to 25 people, and they also intervened in several cases of medical evacuation of tourists and citizens, Žarko Lukšić, Assistant Director of the Maritime Safety Administration, pointed out on Boje jutra on TV Vijesti.

"The largest number of interventions take place on inaccessible beaches, mainly in bad weather conditions, as was the case in Sutomore and the Bar Riviera, where elderly people, older swimmers, were rescued. I know that we all like to have some privacy, and to try to find a place where there aren't too many tourists, but we need to be careful not to put ourselves in danger, especially if they are in poor condition," Lukšić pointed out.

In order to improve safety, Montenegro has implemented advanced technologies for monitoring and controlling maritime traffic.

"Since last year, we have had coverage of the entire Bay of Kotor with sensors, cameras and radars, which allows for monitoring vessels and predicting potential accidents," added Lukšić.

One of the key projects is the installation of automatic transponders on vessels in commercial use, which enable precise tracking of vessels.

"This system has already started to produce results, and by the end of the year we plan to install transponders on around 500 vessels," said Lukšić.
