The Berane Misdemeanor Court rejected the request to initiate misdemeanor proceedings against Vojislav Rmuš, one of three people prosecuted for attacking the journalist crews of "Vijesti" and "Pobjeda".
As reported by TV Vijesti, the president of the Bijelo Polje Misdemeanor Court, Alija Beganović, within which the Berane department also operates, the acting judge Petar Varagić rejected the request against Rmuš, who is accused of insulting Stevo Vasiljević, because the Pobjeda photojournalist did not appear at the hearing, and without his testimony, the decision could not have been made because the police did not ensure the presence of the injured party witness.
Vasiljević was allegedly informed by the police about the date of the interrogation but refused to come.
TV Vijesti has learned that, even if Vasiljević had been heard, the court's decision would likely have been acquittal because the police charged Rmuš with an unspecified act, namely a common sentence he addressed to the gathered crowd, which could not be treated as a misdemeanor.
