Mass recruitment ahead of elections, one-time payments, official campaigns, and ribbon-cuttings – all of this should be a thing of the past in the next elections in 2027, if politicians comply with the new Law on Financing Political Entities and Election Campaigns.
Fines for violating the law range from 200 to 20.000 euros, but the NGO sector is once again calling for pre-election manipulation to be criminally sanctioned, so that it would not be profitable for parties to hunt in the dark.
