Perast is a town that whispers a legend on every stone. Small streets, calm sea and the sun reflecting in the shutters – all this attracts travelers from all over the world.

Danka Lalošević, who grew up here, says that the best thing about Perast is that everyone knows each other and sticks together.

"What I love most about Perast is that we all know each other, there are gossips and gossipers, but in every trouble we are there for each other," she says.

Tourists come to feel the peace, to take home a piece of summer. And each of them leaves with a smile, carried away by the story that only this place can tell, notes Danka.

"We are coming from New Jersey, this is our first time in Montenegro and Perast, and this is definitely the most beautiful place we have visited. I love this peace," says one tourist.

"The sea is beautiful, it's very pleasant to be here," says another.

"Perast is a small, old town with a rich history, we especially like Our Lady of the Rocks," says a tourist from France.

"Yes, it's my first time here, I just arrived, it looks like a fairy tale, I can't wait to see everything. I arrived from England, even though I'm from Australia," says one of the guests.

"This is our first time in Perast, we knew nothing about it, but we are delighted with everything we experienced. This city is full of legends and tradition," says a tourist from London.

"We are visiting from London, we are staying in Doborta, but we had to come and see Perast. I think we will remember this for a long time," adds his fellow citizen.

"I really like it here, there are a lot of tourists, but it's peaceful. The ice cream is delicious, the sea is calm and clear, it's not like in England," says the young British woman.

Tourists bring good energy, but the daily life of locals sometimes requires a compromise – how to preserve peace and tradition, while still opening the doors to the world.

"We can't do it with tourists, but we can't do it without them either. We have to invest a little in infrastructure...", says Danka.

A city you feel with your heart, Perast, reminds us that happiness is truly in the small things, we just have to recognize and appreciate them.
