Socialist People's Party (SNP) President Vladimir Joković said that the party's Congress will be held with a sufficient number of delegates, to believe that his election is not in question, but also expressed regret that Dragoslav Šćekić withdrew his candidacy, even though he had been announcing it for a long time.
According to him, Šćekić withdrew when he realized that he would suffer a convincing defeat, which is why he is considering forming a new political party.
Joković strongly rejected claims that delegates were bought, blackmailed or recruited, emphasizing that the SNP has never yielded to pressure, even from the DPS.
He recalled that Šćekić enjoyed the party's trust for years and held the highest positions, including the positions of Minister of Health, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Sports, and that at the time, as he says, he did not mind the support of millionaires from the DPS era.
Speaking about the possibility of Šćekić's removal from the government if he leaves the SNP, Joković said that it would not be fair for someone who leaves the party and forms a new one to retain functions that belong to the SNP.
