The 2004 dental reform, which abolished state clinics in health centers and schools, turning dentists into private individuals who sign contracts with the Fund, did not yield the expected results, and the prevention and control of children's oral health was left solely to the vigilance of parents.
From 2020, the Health Insurance Fund and the Ministry of Health are announcing the return of dental care to the public health system and the return of school clinics due to the decline in children's oral health. Only recently have more visible steps been taken, and information has arrived that more than a million euros will be invested in equipping dental clinics in primary and secondary schools. When will this work be completed, do we have enough dentists and how will prevention be carried out?
