We condemn every form of violence on the streets of Montenegro, but we also call on the Government, the police and other authorities to react more adequately, said Ivan Pekić, PhD in Security Sciences, and Miloš Krstović, head of the parliamentary club of the Movement for Podgorica, in "Colors of the Morning" on TV Vijesti.
"It is not good that in the 21st century we see cries like 'Kill the Turk' and many other things that we have witnessed. I really cannot believe that in Montenegro in the 21st century, young people can take to the streets with such cries. Of course I condemn such things. However, we should also take into account the concerns of citizens, so I absolutely think that the Police Directorate must react more promptly. I think that intelligence work was lacking here, such things should have been detected earlier," Pekić pointed out.
Krstović said that the Government must take a new approach in shaping migration policy.
"We still think that, as a candidate country for EU membership, we must clearly define ourselves on the issue of immigration policy and define which modality we should take. There are several possible models, but currently in Montenegro we have an absence of any immigration policy, and that is something that is definitely worrying," he said.
Meanwhile, in some Podgorica schools, some students from Turkey have been absent from classes in recent days, but the administration assures that there is no reason to worry.
"Parents have shown concern, but we sent them a clear message yesterday that they should not feel that way, that they should send their children to school, because we are here to provide them with support and safety. We are monitoring the emotional state of the children, our professional service, as well as the class teachers, are acting accordingly. We have not noticed that the children are overly worried, which is good. We hope and advise parents to talk to their children and instill a sense of security and trust in them," said Ljiljana Ćorac Ražnatović, director of the Podgorica "Novka Ubović" Elementary School.
