After numerous delays, discussions and protests, the first shovel will soon be driven into Botun, marking the beginning of the construction of the collector. After the Ministry of Spatial Planning issued a building permit, Podgorica's Vodovod expects that work could begin as early as next month.
"When we prepare the documentation, which we will do as soon as possible, we will inform the contractor and after that we will have more information when he is able to start preparatory work at this location. We hope that this will be in a very short time, because it is necessary to use the remaining credit funds," said Aleksandar Nišavić, director of the Podgorica Waterworks.
However, the first man of the Municipality of Zeta, Mihailo Asanović, is not giving up on his intention to stand in front of the machines with his fellow citizens.
"One part of the plot belongs to the Municipality of Zeta and they were unable to issue a building permit and we will go to the next instance, which is the Administrative Court. What we will do is physically prevent this polluter from building on our territory," he announced.
On the other hand, Nišavić claims that they have a solution in that case too.
"There is no reason for such scenes and situations to occur. We are contractually obligated to ensure that the contractor's work begins, so some measures are foreseen that include unpopular measures, but which should be implemented," he points out.
Although an appeal against the Ministry's decision can be filed, according to information from the Vijesti portal, it does not delay construction. Asanović is also bitter against the Minister of Spatial Planning and Urbanism, Slaven Radunović, who comes from his political party, because he was against the construction of the collector during the election campaign, and now approves it.
"I'm not surprised by either Minister Ćulafić or Radunović. With Radunović, you have the entire staff of Brano Gvozdenović, you have state secretaries who were on the DPS lists and everyone else, not just state secretaries but also people in depth," says the mayor of Zeta Municipality.
The leader of the Democratic People's Party, Milan Knežević, has repeatedly threatened to overthrow the government in Podgorica if the project is launched. Despite this, Podgorica Mayor Saša Mujović insists that this is an opportunity that should not be missed, and that, as he told Television Vijesti, government is temporary and that it does not matter to anyone who is pure of heart.
