Water from Mareza is not yet drinkable; Pejović: We recommend boiling it until the situation is completely stabilized

"The water is still slightly turbid, but it is constantly decreasing. The permissible limit for turbidity is 1 NTU, and we are currently at 1,1 NTU, which is very close to the permissible values. I hope that the situation will be stabilized by noon, because we expect a further decrease in turbidity," said Dušan Pejović from the Podgorica Water Supply and Sewerage Authority.

The water from the Mareza water source is not yet drinkable.

Dušan Pejović from the Podgorica Waterworks and Sewerage Authority, on Boje jutra on Vijesti Television, points out that it is still recommended to boil water.

"The water is still slightly turbid, but it is constantly decreasing. The permissible limit for turbidity is 1 NTU, and we are currently at 1,1 NTU, which is very close to the permissible values. I hope that the situation will be stabilized by noon, because we expect a further decrease in turbidity," Pejović pointed out.

Although the water is currently not completely safe for drinking, Pejović recommended that citizens boil their water, especially those belonging to vulnerable groups – chronically ill people, pregnant women and children.

"We recommend boiling until the situation is completely stabilized. Of course, everyone has a personal choice on how to act, but experts advise this approach," Pejović added.

The Waterworks Company monitors water quality on a daily basis, and in case of emergency, samples are taken more frequently. Citizens can follow information about water quality through the official websites and social networks of the Waterworks and Sewerage Company, as well as in the media.

"We take 20 to 25 samples from the field every day, and in these emergency situations we monitor the situation in real time," Pejović pointed out.
