The Mayor of Mojkovac Municipality, Veselin Delić, called on his fellow citizens to be patient and understanding regarding the works on the main city square, which they protested about two days ago.

Citizens claim that work is going too slowly, that they cannot function normally, and that they have problems with water and electricity supply.

In a statement to Television Vijesti, Delić said that the works should be completed by spring, which means that the original deadline for their completion, in December of this year, will be missed.

Sometimes you have to endure a lot for the sake of beauty, so the people of Mojkovci should be patient until spring, when they should get, as Delić says, perhaps "the most beautiful square in Montenegro."

He states that the works, which were supposed to be completed in December, were slowed down by problems with specific installations and project documentation.

"I think that the dynamics are good despite that, that by the end of the year we will have completed the concrete works and tamping of the entire square and citizens will be able to function without problems when it comes to mud, water and other things that are currently on the square. When it comes to the completion of the works themselves, I hope that in the first nice days of next year, when the weather permits, we will have the final layer of stone and cobblestones installed," Delić told Television Vijesti.

However, citizens are complaining because the streets in the center are impassable, full of water and pose a danger, especially for the elderly residents of Mojkovci and the children who live there. Due to the works, they have also experienced interruptions in the supply of water and electricity.

"The entire city has been dug up, dug up, the city has been systematically destroyed. This has been going on since the beginning of July. We simply expected that the work would start at an accelerated pace, that the contractor would increase the number of people. However, it happened that the number of people was reduced to two or three workers," said Zoran Dulović, a resident of Mojkovac.

Delić understands the dissatisfaction of his fellow citizens.

"They certainly have the right to protest. I support the citizens and understand their need to express their dissatisfaction somewhere because the current state of the square is really not a picture of what it should look like," said Delić.

He says that in order to accommodate citizens, they partially opened the hill for passage to the institutions located in the center of Mojkovac.

The reconstruction project of the city square is being financed by the municipality with two and a half million euros, and the contractor is the Podgorica company "Civil Engineer".
