After decades, sewing machines are humming again in the north.
The Pljevlja Coal Mine has opened a new plant in the hall of the former "Tara" knitwear factory, which will produce personal protective equipment for the needs of the mine and the Electric Power Company.
The launch of this facility is part of the broader business transformation of the Coal Mine as part of the Just Transition Plan, which creates new jobs for the future, when the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant is no longer operating.
The mine recently leased an asphalt base from the bankruptcy administration of the company "Vektra Jakić". So far, they have produced over 820 tons of asphalt.
As part of the same plan, Rudnik plans to build a 40-megawatt solar park at the Grevo landfill, and a project for a 2,2-megawatt mini hydroelectric power plant at the Durutovići dam has also been developed.
